Backstory: Despite her best efforts, Rose Quartz was unable to remove the metal shrapnel lodged in Pearl's gem, preventing her body from regenerating properly. To make up for this loss, Pearl salvaged machinery from the Kindergarten and fashioned herself a new body so that she may still be of use to Rose and the Crystal Gems. Unfortunately, she could not have known that the Homeworld programing would take over her mind as it did her body...
