AU # 8: Pearl the Unbroken

Backstory: None were more devoted to Rose Quartz than the "terrifying renegade Pearl" that served as her right hand. That devotion presented itself when Pearl flung herself in front of an attack from Blue Diamond herself meant for her liege. To the surprise and horror of Homeworld soldiers and Rebels alike, she did not expire even with the shattering of her gemstone. Instead, the fractured shards held together and Pearl's fighting spirit remained, forcing herself together to finish off the remaining Homeworld troops and even driving Blue Diamond away in terror. Despite holding herself together remarkably well, Pearl's physical form remains in constant flux, phasing in and out of existence...and while her devotion to Rose and the Crystal Gems was as it had been before...the same couldn't be said for her sanity...

Also, obviously this draws heavy inspiration from Undyne the Undying.
